Welcome to our home page!

The Magnetic Research Department is a part of the Institute of Low Temperature and Structure Research in Wroc³aw, Poland, which is one of the research institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Here you can find some useful information about us and our scientific activity.

There are open positions for MSc/PhD students and postdoctoral researchers in the field of solid state physics and chemistry, as well as other, related sciences (e.g. material sciences). Interested candidates are kindly asked to contact directly the Head of the Department - Prof. Dariusz Kaczorowski.

NEWS

2009.07.08 - New discovery by our group

D. Kaczorowski, A. Pikul, D. Gnida and V. H. Tran discovered ambient pressure superconductivity in antiferromagnetically ordered heavy-fermion compound Ce2PdIn8. For details see Physical Review Letters 103 (2009) 027003.

2009.05.21 - New paper in Physical Review Letters

A. Pikul is one of the authors of a letter describing Kondo-cluster-glass state near a ferromagnetic quantum phase transition in CePd1-xRhx. For details see Physical Review Letters 102 (2009) 206404.

2009.05.14 - New paper in Physical Review Letters

A. Pikul is one of the authors of a letter describing precise specific-heat measurement carried out on high-quality single crystals of YbRh2Si2. The experiments revealed large positive critical exponent α = 0.38 around the antiferromagnetic phase transition at TN = 70 mK, which differs significantly from those of the conventional universality class in the Ginzburg-Landau theory (where α ≤ 0.11). For details see Physical Review Letters 102 (2009) 196402.
